What is rush?
Rush is an opportunity for those interested in our sorority to learn about us – who we are, what we do, and what we stand for. We schedule 2 weeks of fun filled events for you, the rushee, to ask us any questions that you may have and get better acquainted with the sisters. There is NO obligation to join and all events are FREE of charge so we encourage you to come check us out because we would love to meet you!
Do I have to be Asian to rush?
Absolutely not. Sigma Psi Zeta is a multicultural Asian-interest sorority. We believe in the promotion of Asian/Asian-American awareness as well as cultural diversity. Nationally, 10% of our sorority is of non-Asian descent.
How many events do I have to attend?
We require that you attend at least one out of two general interest meetings and three events if you would like to be considered for an interview. But the more events you attend, then more you will get to know us and the more we will get to know you!
What happens after rush?
After an interview, a bid may be extended to the rushee. Upon acceptance of this bid, the rushee will begin the pledge program. Pledging is a period of time in which pledges learn the values and traditions of the sorority as well as create close bonds with the sisters. This is a truly unique opportunity to create lasting memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
Do you haze?
Sigma Psi Zeta National enforces a strict non-hazing policy. Our organization's national philanthropy is "to combat the violence against women." With this in mind, we are against the disrespect of women in all its myriad forms. The purpose of pledging is to help stimulate a bond between the members of a pledge class and the sisters that have already been initiated. It is a challenge and a commitment during which trust is placed in both the pledges and the sisters. Subsequently, we do not mentally, physically or emotionally degrade our pledges. To do so would work against the ties of loyalty, allegience and dedication that we aim to create.
When can I rush?
We rush in the beginning of the fall and spring quarters. Please contact our Rush Chairs if you have any other questions!
